1. Describe a time when you learned a new subject.

When I was in junior high, I had to learn English for the first time, andit was really hard for me to pick up at first. The words, grammar and sentencepatterns are just so different from Chinese. But with the help of my Englishteacher, I gradually learnt some basic words and useful phrases, and I startedpracticing English with foreigner whenever I got a chance, the more I acquire,the more I am willing to learn and I put more effort and I am determined to bereally good in English. Now, after so many years, I am still a big fan of theEnglish language, and I cannot live a single day without it.

2. Describe a gift that you would like to give to your friend.

I would say the gift I would like to give to my friend is an iphone 6 plus.I know it is kind of expensive, but I think it’s worth the value. Firstly, itembodies the most cutting edge and state of the art technology, like touchscreen, voice control and video camera, stuff like that. With this smart phone,my friend can talk to his friends and family members wherever and whenever hewants. Apart from that, he can download movies to watch on the high fidelityscreen, just to kill some time. Last but not the least, with wifi access, hegets to know what is happening around the globe by surfing on the internet.

3. What do you think the government should do to decrease the usage of carsor other vehicles and solve the traffic problems?

There are lots of ways for the city to deal with the traffic jams. Firstly,the decision makers should invest more money to improve public transportation,like adding more bus routes, develop express local trains and renovating bumpyroads. Secondly, they in order to limit the number of private cars on roads,more tax should be imposed on gasoline price, and they probably should reducethe price of public transportation, and make it more accessible to citizens, sowhen they commute, they will only consider using public transportation.

4. What is the most important quality the teacher should have?

I would say the most important quality of a good teacher is knowledge. Asknown to all, the teacher’s job is to impart knowledge and enlighten thestudents’ creativity. A teacher is supposed to be an expert in his or her ownfield, they should also have some knowledge in other fields, cuz lots of subjectare related with other fields for example, geopolitical science deals withgeography and politics, behavioral economics is about psychology and economics.Most important of all, a knowledgeable teacher will be more popular than ateacher with very limited knowledge.

5. Which of the following do you think is the most important formaintaining good health? Doing exercises, eating healthy food, or going to bedearly?

I would say doing exercise is definitely my choice, going to the gym anddoing some exercises is of great fun. Actually, it helps me to keep fit and beathletic and develop my agility and strength at the same time, so I do not lookawkward. There are lots of exercises that one can do to keep healthy, like dojogging in the park, work out in the gym, do some aerobics like yoga, andswimming. These activities can enhance your cardiovascular system, and help youto get rid of the poisonous substance in your body, and I do not think eatinghealthy food and going to bed early are as helpful as doing exercises.

6. Describe your favorable place to study.

I would say my most favorite place to study is the coffee shop. when I needto do some schoolwork, I would stay inside of the coffee shop, it is so quietand I can concentrate on my assignments, like writing papers, and even preparingfor exams. when I feel like to practice my speaking English, I can always havethe choice to go outside sit around the patios to read out loud. Despite allthese advantages, I can enjoy a cup of good-tasting coffee. Also, if I amhungry, I will get some cookies and that will give me enough energy tostudy.

7. Describe an experience that you worked well with another person. Explainwhy that experience is important to you. Include reasons and details to supportyour response.

I would say my first internship in a local bank in my community is veryprecious to me. I worked together with Tony Wang, he worked there for lots ofyears, and he is a very nice guy and willing to help newcomers to grow in aprofessional setting and he taught me a lot, I owe him a lot.

Since I was not familiar with way that people do their works in the bank,he told me it is important for me to be sensible and aware of the dynamics inthe company and keep a low profile. He offered to help me with workingprocedures and treated me like a little brother.

8. Talk about an interesting school activity that you participated inrecently. Give details to support your response.

Actually, there are lots of school activities one can do, like working outin the gym, reading books in the library, and stuff like that. I would say Ilike to work out and play sports in the gym most.

In our school, we have a very up to standard gym. There are lots offacilities in it, like a very nice swimming pool, basketball court, badmintoncourt and stuff like that. As a college student I am busy with all kinds ofassignments like papers, group projects and even presentations. Go ahead, andplaying some sports is of great fun, cuz I can relax myself and totally forgetmy pressure in my study.

9. Which of the following volunteer work would you choose and why? 1.Working as a home tutor 2. Helping adults 3. Helping old people.

If I were given a chance to do some volunteer work, I would help theseniors. Now there are more and more retirees in my country, and the nursinghomes and senior center are not doing a very good job to help the seniors. Thereare quite a few things that I can do to help the seniors, I can read themnewspapers, to help them get access to what is happening around the world. Ialso could assist them to tidy up their rooms so they might have a very goodmood every day. Apart from that, I can just talk with them, seniors get lonelyeasily, and by interacting with them, they will feel a sense of belong to thecommunity and there are someone out there who care about them. With all theabove reasons and more, I would volunteer to help seniors.

10. Describe a job you admired but you will NOT choose it yourself.

I think the job that I admire is the government official, I would say it isthe most challenging profession, they are responsible to solve complex socialproblems like, education, Medicare, and the economy of the region or country.These issues are just tricky and hard to deal with. Another reason that I admirethem is that they have to sacrifice their private life to public scrutiny andthey have no privacy, it’s like living in a golden fish in a bowl. This is avery noble profession, however I admire the profession, I would not dare tobecome a government official.

11. Talk about an organization or a club that you would like to join.Explain why you would like to join this organization? Please include reasons anddetails in your response.

I would like to join in the swimming club, cuz if I

joined the club, Iwould have a chance to compete together with my teammates to represent myuniversity. That would be a great honor for me. In some competitions, I have towork with my teammates to win the game, and it gives me a strong sense ofbelonging and I feel I am needed by the team, my teammate and I would cheer upeach other and get inspirations, encouragements from my fellow teammates. On topof that, I am a big swimming fan, when I am swimming in the pool, I feel sorelaxed and it is a very good way to keep fit.

12. Which of the following Art classes would you be more interested intaking? Wood Sculpture, Painting or Photography?

I would say I like to take the photography class, I have a very genuineinterest in photographing, and I am very passionate about expressing myselfthrough imageries. I take pictures to record my own life, and it is a very goodway to reflect the past, also I like to help others to remember their preciousmoments by photos, like their weddings, graduation ceremonies and some otherspecial events. I just feel that when I am not using my camera, there is a voidin my life. But I still need to get better in photographing, so I would like totake this class.
