I am a happy little bird
Hello everyone! My name is Jojo. I’m a little bird as you can see. I enjoy going to school, eating yummy food (I’m a foodie), playing, and sleeping. However, today, for the first time, I felt annoyed.
Our teacher assigned an essay entitled “I Can”, and asked us to write what makes us different and what we are good at. I racked my brain for half an hour, but I couldn’t think anything to write about. I really needed to pick my friends’ brain. So, I decided to give them a call.
Firstly, I called my best friend George, who is a little hen.
Ringring, ringring, “Hello,Jojo?”
“Hey, George, I got some trouble. What’s your English essay about?”
“Cluck cluck, I can cluck!”
Cluck? She is right. Clucking requires a good voice which I don’t have.
Then, I called my desk mate Demi who is a little duck.
Ringring, ringring.“Hi,Jojo?”
“Hey, Demi, I’m so upset! Do you know what to write for your English essay yet?”
“Well ,I can swim! Talk you later! Bye!”
“Hey, w-wait”
Yeah, swimming needs good physical coordination, which I don’t have, either.
Then I asked the rest of my classmates one by one. Each of them seemed to have already figured out what they wanted to write. The rat, it can sit. The frog, it can jump. The fox, it can run. The bat, it can nap. The boy can raise dogs. And the girl can play ball. Only me, sitting at my desk with a piece of blank paper in my hands.
I asked myself, “Do you think you are happy every day?” “Yes!”
Can all your classmates be as happy as you?” “No!”
At that moment, I suddenly felt enlightened. Being happy requires an optimistic mind, and that’s exactly what I have.
Just like, even if I had no idea about my essay at first, I still tried to find solutions and inspirations instead of just crying.
Late at night, I wrote down the sentence: “I can stay happy.” Indeed, happiness is a choice. You choose the live you want to live. And positivity, is a mindset.
